Unless the file is stored as a blob in a database on the AS400, you will not be able to use JDBC to gain access to the file system, in my experience. You will need access to a share or some type of interface (FTP, etc.) where you can gain access to the file so that you can use either a File or Multi-Format BizComponent to process the contents.
