XAware 5.4 and 6.x were built using Java 1.5, and we don't currently have a separate test suite against Java 1.6; but we aren't aware of any explicit features that won't work with Java 1.6. I did some minimal testing with Java 1.6, and was able to execute several BizDocs including a SQL BizComp, with both the XA-Designer and using the XAware Engine deployed to Tomcat (embedded server).

You can change to the Java 1.6 vm by changing your JAVA_HOME setting or editing the script used to to run the server, and editing the /designer/XA-Designer.ini -vm setting for running XA-Desginer.

We'd be glad to review any feedback or specific issues you have running XAware under Java 1.6, or hear any comments from other users running XAware under Java 1.6. (Note: we also had several customers running XAware 4.x, which was built on Java 1.4, under the Java 1.5 jre without any issues.)
