Hi Tim,

A couple of other notes:

1. I tried to deploy the xar using an earlier designer to the new TOMCAT server without success using the Package Deployer.
2. Executing XAServletBizDoc returns the following error:

C:\XAware_5.1.371>ExecuteServletBizView.cmd "_BIZVIEW=XAFunctoids/DateTime/a11_0

Hi Tim,

Reference #4 above using the 6.0.16 TOMCAT server. The error is actually:

C:\xaware5_1_335\bin>HotDeploy.bat C:\TestCases\XAFunctoids\XAFunctoids.xar HTTP
://localhost:8080 -o
2008-06-17 15:44:40.166 000000.0010 INFO ManagementUtils::locateMBeanServer F
ound existing MBeanServer

Could not connect to server; please ensure that server is running at HTTP://localhost:8080.
Documents failed to deploy.

Sorry for the incorrect message.

Jeff

Hi Tim,

Below are a couple of noted issues with TOMCAT.

1. Executing start-tomcat.cmd does not start the server. I used startup.bat.
2. I believe $XAWARE_HOME$ should be %XAWARE_HOME% in catalina.bat
3. When selecting the TOMCAT all-in-one, the JDK is not installed
4. Executing HotDeploy.bat returns the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/xaware/ide/xadev/tools/gui/packagetool/DeployXar

Regarding #1 - To manually start Tomcat one should use the bin/startup.bat and I believe that Tim is modifying that in the installer.

Regarding #2 - It is not an environment variable but a JAVA_OPT. In either startup.bat or catalina.bat just after the comments at the top of the file one should use:
set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Dxaware.home=c:\xaware
for example on a Windows box or
JAVA_OPTS=$JAVA_OPTS -Dxaware.home=/opt/xaware
for example on a Linux box.
This appears to have been corrected as Tim and I looked at the latest catalina.bat and can see where it will substitute %XAWARE_HOME%.

Regarding #3 - Tomcat, I believe, only requires a JRE which may explain the JDK is not being installed.

Regarding #4 - I had to set XAWARE_HOME in my console window to get it to run and then got "Deploy Failed, Caught Exception:null Documents failed to deploy." when trying to deploy. Not sure what would be causing that.

All current issues, except the one with HotDeploy.bat should be taken care of in the latest build (374).

Hi Tim,
Couple of comments on build 5.1.0.374:

1. When i installed XAware by selecting the Install "Java5 JDK" checkbox, following files "jdk-1_5_0_15-linux-i586.bin" and "jdk-1_5_0_15-windows-i586-p.exe" are copied in the installation folder. The size of these 2 files is around 99 MB.

2 In Select Start Menu folder Screen that comes while Installing XAware

1. Select any folder in the list
2. Deselect both "Create Shortcut’s for all users" and "Don’t create Start Menu folder" checkboxes.

On clicking next button following error log file is created in the folder where XAware_windows_5_1.exe exists with the following message:

Ravindra,

Thanks for the info on the start menu selections. For your last comment about jboss not starting, if you do a normal flow, without getting any stack traces, will jboss start for you? I am thinking that if you tried it from the install where you got this error, then perhaps some required steps were not completed to finish setting up jboss. I will put in a step to delete the JDK files. Also, the .bin should not be distributed with the windows installer so I will make sure that the correct setting is in there to not include it.

-Tim
