After talking with one of the dev's, the script is a self-expanding script created by Install4J and cannot be modified manually without corrupting the install file. It sounded like it might be possible but would take a significant effort to ensure that the file would work correctly. We are discussing possible changes to support more types of installations but currently you best bet to get server running on Solaris would be to install on a Linux box, tar the install and untar on Solaris. There still may be issues as it's not something that we have tried in quite a while.

That's great! Glad to hear you got it working. For the benefit of the community, would you mind posting a high-level list of the steps you took to make it work on Solaris 2.9?

Thanks

1) Install 1.5 jre on solaris

2) Install Xaware onto your favourite linux box

3)on Linux Tar the Xaware installation and copy the tar file to your solaris box

4) Untar in your desired directory

5) edit the Xaware start.sh so that Xaware home is pointing to the path your new Xaware home directory on Solaris and your solaris 1.5 jre Home

Sorry to have put you through the manual process...
While researching the possibility of a console based installer, I was informed that one can run the netinstaller (.sh) with a -c option to perform a console based install. If one downloads the offline installer (.zip) one must first unzip the download and one can then run the resulting installer (.sh) with the same -c option.

Currently there is an error thrown at the very end of the install which appears to have no impact on the resulting installation. We will look it to it and get that cleaned up as soon as we can fit it in to the schedule.

Glad you got it working, albeit the more manual way, but now the whole community has benefited!

I'll be writing it up in the wiki later this week.

Thanks again!
