Data services for service-oriented architecture (SOA) is likely to come to the forefront... by billm

Data services for service-oriented architecture (SOA) is likely to come to the forefront at Sun Microsystems Inc. with its $1 billion acquisition of MySQL AB this past week, according to James Kobielus , senior analyst at Forrester Research Inc .

That is the very first of line of a story by Rich Seeley posted today on TechTarget's SearchSOA.com

He could be on to something! MySQL is already an XAware partner and XAware is all about making it easier to create and manage services that provide access to data to and from multiple systems, formats, and locations with a completely standards-based SOA approach, and with a commitment to open source.

Rich Seeley's article also includes this quote:

For developers data is pretty much the center of your world... Ian Murdock, Chief OS Strategist, Sun Microsystems Inc.

They clearly get it! We in the XAware community very much look forward to working with the merged Sun/MySQL team.
